Avenue Theatre facade looks great. It has a retro feel and yet fits into the street scene as though it belonged. It takes a second look to realize it is a trompe l’oeil
illusion – the first piece of public art on Downey Avenue. Congrats to its creators. Lorine
It brings me joy to see that some effort has been taken to beautify the aging Avenue Theatre’s exterior. I used to go to that theatre as a kid. I hope that one day someone will come forward to renovate the building and use it for showcasing independent films. Its a part of Downey that shouldn’t be allowed to decay.
